just finished cutting up some cheap black plastic spatulas. I am using them for the push cart that i am making for my 3-d class. i am turning them in to S&M riding crops. so far, i've made one, but it looks pretty kick ass. just need to figure out how to use this 5 minute epoxy for binding the entire thing together and i am golden.

listening to appleseed cast. the album grew on me. not as addicted to it as the good be tanyas or the postal service, but it's good.

on to my week:

tuesday, march 2: end of the night. talked to val for about an hour. she is buying a house in milwaukee. i am a little bit jealous. we talked about how we kinda switched dreams. last year at this time, she set on getting into graduate school and going to get her phd. and i was sure that the graduate schools would reject me and then i could just peacefully buy a condo in chicago and look for a new job. Instead, i got into the graduate school of my dreams and val didn't. I moved to NY to go to school and val is now going to be running her own restaurant and buying a house in milwaukee. we are both happy with our places and wouldn't have wished for anything else, but we both are a bit envious of what the other has. we know that someday though i'll get a house and val will get a phd. also found out that milwaukee has much help for first time home buyers. good things to keep in mind if i decide i want to move there in a couple of years.

wednesday, march 3: went to industrial plastics on canal. that place fucking rocks!!! they have all the plastic you would ever need. i got a 1/8 plastic rod for building my riding crops and then i headed uptown to get some leather piping to put on it. found some great piping at a place on 38th. went back home and had lunch. went into the studio and worked on the editor's letter for the magazine. finished it and headed over to the hardware store to get glue sticks for Kris's glue gun. i am going to glue gun all the piping to my kitchen/S&M gear. glued one wire whisk. all i have to stay is that glue guns rock! i suddenly realized why so many middle aged women love them. maybe i'll start crafting boxes with tons of tacky flowers on it and selling them at flea markets. never know, it could pay for graduate school.

had magazine class. we talked about how to put an issue of magazine together and how to go about writing articles. i showed julie some of my photography since she had done photo with me at northwestern. she really liked my lomos. it is the second complement that i have gotten on my lomos from one of my professors in over a week. think that is a hint that i need to do something with them.

worked after class on my products for kevin. finished my riding crop/spatula and my S&M wire whisks. they look good. then i started on my trading cards. got most of it done. just need to do the photos for them. going to try and do them over spring break. maybe the girls can help.

thursday, march 4: it is my birthday. i am thirty. i am happy to be old. happy to be done with my twenties. ready to rock my thirties. funny, i thought thirty sounded so old when i was sixteen. i never thought i'd get here. also never imaged that i would be doing what i am doing. it is strange.

got up early. opened my presents from my parents. did some exercise. wanted to feel pretty so i put on my green silk dress. had a plant waiting for me at the front desk. from mom and dad. went to school where a beautiful flowering plant was waiting for me from natalie. jonathan put a birthday greeting in my drawer and cem gave me a red daisy. others wished me happy birthday and jeffrey gave me Bitter with Baggage Seeks Same. worked the rest of the day on more products for kevin. Got many birthday messages over email and phone.

Fred Sieger came in and spoke to us. He was awesome. he worked for mtv, nickolodian, hanna barbara as an executive producer. he was extremely candid and funny to listen to. once again, learned much from the lecture.

went to kevin's 3-d class. lauren, natalie and araba had gotten cupcakes from four different bakeries in NY and made yummy homemade cupcakes for me, my professor and my classmates. i got to sample all the cupcakes and decide which is my favorite NY cupcake. I had to agree with the NY times article on cupcakes. Sage bakery had the best. It was also my professor, kevin's birthday. he was just as excited by the surprize as i was. found out that he was born at 8am in the morning by cessiarian just like me.

we talked about the upcoming show. we only have five weeks to finish everything. that is scary. volunteered for the instillation group for the show. will be fun to put the look and the feel of the show together.

after class, lauren, mark, araba, natalie, thomas and I headed over to Grand Saloon for dinner and drinks. Kris and Chris met us later. good drinks, conversations and food. finished off the evening by heading home and opening the package lisa had sent me. she is such a sweetie. i can't believe that i have only known her for a year or so. it feels so much longer. i am sad that i didn't meet her four or five years earlier so we could have more time to hang out in chicago before i came to NY.

good birthday. i am luckly to have such loving friends and family. thank you.

friday, march 5: got up and worked on my website. steven heller and glen came by and sang me happy birthday. they were both off key and non-harmonizing. it was flattering and funny. made wireframes of what my user flow will be. went over it with Chris and he had some good suggestions. also we had a great discussion about ska music. worked on my products up until midnight when i went out with thomas to meet cem, julia and jonathan at a club called siberia on 40th. julia's ex-boyfriend's band was playing. hung out there until 1am and then thomas and his roomate, sam and i all headed back to cem's house. we hung out there with emre, cem and one of their friends until 3:30am talking about music, design and each others moms. (don't ask.)

saturday, march 6: got up super, super late. becky called at 10:30am and we decided to go to the sex museum. went back to sleep until 2:30pm. walked up to the musuem. grabbed a bagel for lunch and got pounced on by a rain shower. finally, got to the museum. becky and i spent 2.5 hours there. unfortaintly, the show was diappointing. the organization sucked. becky, who is getting her phd. in history, kept pointing out discrepancies. besides the problems with the content, the design was terrible. one couldn't tell where to look. tags were sloppy put together and the spaces/flow of traffic was poorly thought out. i still enjoyed the show, but was sad that they had such a great/no-brainer subject and had to take away from it by poor design and organization.

headed down to little italy afterwards. becky need to pick up some antipasto for kate's sopranio party on sunday night. we had dinner at Cha Cha's. good pizza and spimonie. went back to the studio. came up with a list of things to buy on sunday for the cart. worke on other projects.

sunday, march 7: got up and went to houton's. Rina orgazined a bunch to celebrate jeff and kelly's engagement. I finally got to meet kelly. she is super, sweet. her and jeff are good together. talked about the program, shows in NY and other things. after we finished, i headed off to homefront hardware on 29th. Got epoxy, meat tenderizers and basters. next, i hit the $1 store to get more spatulas. at 3pm, i headed to the shop to see if i could pick up my cart. helped Kris, Jonathan, Kevin, David and Jong Woo unload the van of wood. then Kris, Jonathan and i talked to kevin about buying wood and where/when would be the best to get the wood. kevin decided we should go up to homefront hardware with him. it might be a bit expensive, but since he had a van we could get the lumber today and not pay delivery for it. took forever to get the wood we wanted. they didn't have enough of everything in stock, but with kevin's help we finally figured it out. got back and unloaded everything. Kris, Jonathan and i feel awesome for getting our wood. one big step done in getting this project done. tomorrow, i'll go in and cut everything. i have to say one thing though. Kevin O'Callahan rocks!! he spent a couple hours of out his day carting us around to get wood and helping us figure out what to get. He also got 10% taken off cuz we were students. a great, great guy.

went and got dinner with the boys. came back and worked on signage for the ross macdonald show. cut up my spatulas and now i am doing my blog.

have a good night!
