chris has put out his best album yet. i liked his other stuff, but i felt that something was being held back or quite hadn't jelled yet. chris has finally come together and put out a beautiful complete album. i saw him live a couple weeks ago and it was one of the best shows that i've been to this year. I loved it. I spent the entire night grinning to myself and singing along. so check him out next time he plays or just buy his damn album.

One hour before christmas eve and i sit submerged in the tub listening to six songs by a singer/songwriter from Omaha. The beautiful soulful music fills the bathroom bouncing off the tiles and chasing notes around my head. His melodies mirror the opalescent warm hazy candle light. I feel light, warm and happy. My head is clear and i weigh the merits of the album. It's good. Not too polished, but there is a strong clear quality to his voice that draws me in. I hear uncle tupelo, chris mills, song:ohia and josh (the guy who found this guy and sent me his disk) all wrapped up and tangled in his voice and arrangements. maybe john will like it too and we'll have an album to put out. i hope so.
