one more thing. good sagmeister quotes:

things you need to make a good cd design, "You need bears, naked people, and severed limbs." (talking about the new talking heads best of that he just finished.)

"Sleep is for wimps."

late. again. at night. still. in. studio. yep.

i am still here. I just finished up my writing for my assignment tomorrow. We need to do a book that contains two or more different perspectives. I spent a couple of hours trying out different ideas, but nothing was gelling. I really wanted to do something based in real life, (ie-interviews, personal ads, emails etc.) but couldn’t find something that worked. So I decided to write about three points of view from one band. I have one interviewer talking to them before and after a show. The book will be divided into three parts , one for each band member. (think of those crazy flip books from when you were a kid and you could change out the head, body and feet just by flipping the pages.) so the band is separate pages at the beginning, but then they merge in the middle when they play and go back to three separate sections at the end of the book.

That is due tomorrow with sketches. The final book is due next week.

What else did I do this week?

Book class: presented my cemetery book. It turned out pretty. I like it.

Box class: we looked at tons of different magazines and books in boxes. It was really rockin. Loved what I saw. Still working on my instruments. Was freaking out about it earlier this week, but I started on them on Saturday and make my thumb piano and started the guitar. Yea! They are cool!! I like them!

Milton’s class: worked hard all weekend and most of the week on the magazine comp that we had due. It was good to work n a group. I like working in groups. Get a lot of imput on stuff and I do better when I collaborate with people. Found new people to bounce ideas off of that I hadn’t worked with before. We came up with a good magazine. I really wish it could exist. It is a travel magazine that would focus on the kitch and interesting in America. Milton seemed to like it too. He had a good idea. We should focus on vanishing America. Ie-covered bridges, the mermaids of weeki wachee, drive in movie theaters, etc.

Cd class: we presented final sketches. Sagmeister was a bit annoyed with us. He wants better sketches of our stuff. I agree with him. Mine was pretty half-assed plus, I can’t draw too well. Add learning how to draw to my long list of things to do. He did approve my idea so now I have two weeks to execute it. Hmm… I should be okay. Doing postcards with images from the album on them and then the postcard is a flexi-disk.

Web class was cancelled. Worked on the free market show. We are putting up all the packages that we made for the box class in the exhibit space at school. It will be up for the design open house next weekend.

This weekend I hung out with my friend phil on Friday at a bar in Brooklyn. It was cool. Phil is a bit grumpy, but nice. Fun to see him and Williamsburg. There wasn’t as many hipsters as I thought, but maybe they were all trick-or-treating in manhattan.

Saturday I worked on my box instruments. Sat outside and filed and sawed for a couple of hours. It was super warm. Like 70s. beautiful. It was nice that I could work outside and enjoy it. Had dinner with jeff. Once again, I had a great time. He is just so damn cute and nice. I think I have a crush.

Today, I went up to the upper east side to see jen run by in the marathon. I couldn’t get across to my friend’s apartment, but I managed to see her run by. I got teared up. I swear I am becoming a pansy girl. Whatever. I was just super proud of jen. She rocks. Then I walked back to the train and ran into matt and becky. We all went back to the party where I got to see old friend from northwestern who I hadn’t seen in years. Nice. Then I came back her and worked.

Now I go home. Tomorrow I work out and work on my instruments. Oh, and my book for Milton.

Finally, i must say that this brazillian music disk that jeff gave me is pretty good. okay. sleep.
